It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

If this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
