The midfielder Crosses from dead balls and free kicks were dangerous. Enjoyed room to drift in left midfield yet found himself in an offside position when the ball arrived in front of goal. Awarded a deserved substitution after an hour. 6

The star midfielder Operated in an advanced spot on the right and also did plenty of the hard yards. Showed glimpses of brilliance and mishit an effort high. Withdrawn in the closing stages by a teammate, his rival, following a yellow card. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s top opening in the opening period, his shot excellently kept out by the opposing goalkeeper. With a teammate staying deep, he was forced to provide width on the right although his balls from wide areas were hit and miss. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. 6

Harry Kane The decisive figure scoring two more goals in an England shirt. The first a typical poacher’s finish while the second a classy headed goal after peeling away away from the opposition. At 32, he’s only getting better and England stand a real opportunity in the upcoming tournament with him up top. Eight

The attacker Found it tough to influence play on the left flank. Had a presentable chance after being played in by Bellingham but Strakosha denied him. Rashford had a greater influence in his place. Five
