19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a former number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.
Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a close final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he earned the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
