NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates includes live text for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard through select stations for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six of the NFL season , after last week's talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each lost their unbeaten records.

Notable during those contests was the amount of penalties both committed. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times so they kind of beat themselves after leading 17-3 entering the final quarter versus Denver, set to play in London this weekend.

However it proved positive to see how Denver quarterback the rookie was able to have the shortfall before direct three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, securing the game by four points.

The Broncos boast the top defender with cornerback their star corner. They rank first in red zone defence, while Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, and Denver prevailed in that contest.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily sending more than four defenders but they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and send a nickel off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, we said on a program how Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year strongly then excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled significantly and recent running back JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He now ranks fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).

I love that the coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates that Denver represent a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in positive down and distances.

This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw all over, however they lack the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he is highly agile.

His assets include his movement, the capacity to throw on the run, as well as finding varied release points to make throws as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to deliver precision throws across the middle or over the corner.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays a lot of composure under pressure and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and is quick to decide.

When you constantly rush it consumes the clock and forces the defence to stay in play extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence must defend the area downfield and horizontally. This proves exhausting.

Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for the coach to coach a rookie QB who's kind of like moldable clay. He can truly develop him how he desires to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

The head coach has won a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are having offensively is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with Nix helps shape him what he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you through some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they strong enough to go against an elite team at its best? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.

Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a good place to be in their division. All they need is to continue this path.

They excel at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and that's precisely what they must do versus the New York Jets in London. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win a game.

Since the NFL began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is surprising considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the West.

This hinges on what version Kansas City shows up they meet since Denver {beat|def
