Fans Urge Custody of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the actress are calling for that a person who breached a barrier and grabbed the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the Australian man shoving aside photographers and lunging at Grande while the actors made its way down a promenade surrounded by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram profile features videos of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last year.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a punishable act," stated an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user questioned.
Fans Express Concern Over the Star's Well-being
Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
A number of supporters also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos circulating online, Grande looked startled when she was grabbed by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had assembled in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part interpretation of the acclaimed theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely friendship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The show itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
