The British tennis star achieved the most notable win of his professional journey by rallying from a lost first set to beat world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz in three hard-fought sets in the early stage of the Paris Masters.

Although he had previously beaten Alcaraz on two occasions, this triumph marks Norrie's initial success over a sitting world number one.

"Enormous. Incredibly significant for me," stated Norrie, who is now the fifth English competitor in the record books to defeat a top-ranked player. "Bouncing back from health issues last year, I fell in the first round of qualifying rounds here. I just tried to embrace my performance in the latter part of the year. To achieve a win like this, it's the most significant victory of my tennis journey, my initial victory over the world No 1 and arguably the most in-form player in the tennis scene right now."

The British player, positioned No 31, also stopped Alcaraz's impressive sequence of nine straight final appearances and 17 consecutive Masters 1000 victories, which was the top run of performances in the Spaniard's early professional path.

The top seed appeared to be advancing smoothly to a win at the start as he cruised through the first set. Yet, the British contender steadily fought his way back into the game by serving with greater precision and pulling the Spaniard into prolonged, demanding points.
